Scaling Digital

Re:State was delighted to hold a private policy roundtable led by Alex Holmes, Deputy Director of Cyber Security at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (and former Chief Operating Officer at the Government Digital Service), to discuss the challenges and priorities in scaling the government's digital capabilities.

The last few years have seen a transformation in how government departments procure, provision, develop and manage digital and information technologies upon which they rely to deliver services to the public. We are now on the cusp of the next generation of digital policy, which could ensure that an understanding of digital ceases to be a specialist skill within the civil service, and that digital will increasingly move into the mainstream. The next question for government, therefore, is how it can best scale its digital transformation efforts so that they continue to deliver long-lasting and significant benefits. This event sought to answer this question, and discussed the cultural and structural challenges which the civil service must now address.

This discussion brought together over 20 digital and technology leaders from across government and the private sector, and was held in partnership with DXC Technology (formerly Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services UK Limited).
