The (Out)sourcing Playbook V2.0

With the latest official figures revealing that government’s spend on external suppliers increased by £16 billion in the past year, the need for efficient, effective, and accountable outsourcing is more important than ever. The Cabinet Office and Government Commercial Function’s 2019 Outsourcing Playbook marked a significant step in the right direction, but there is still scope for improvement in how government commissions and procures goods and public services. Whether through the public sector, strategic suppliers, or smaller companies and charities, good commissioning can have a significant impact not only on the service delivered but broader society, whilst also ensuring value-for-money for the taxpayer.

Re:State was delighted to host this roundtable, led by Gareth Rhys Williams, Government Chief Commercial Officer, Cabinet Office, to explore the next stage of outsourcing reforms.

The roundtable was held under the Chatham House Rule.
