Reforming the NHS front door: Labour’s vision for primary care

Primary care is under immense pressure. Despite delivering more appointments than before the pandemic, only around half of patients report finding it easy to get through to their GP and just fifty per cent of patients saw someone when they needed. An ageing population, the growing prevalence of patients with multiple conditions, and worrying trends in mental health, means demand is only set to grow. It is therefore clear that this front door to the NHS needs a rethink.

Labour has shown an exciting ambition to think differently about the future of health and care. The commitment to focus on prevention, early intervention and shifting healthcare out of the hospital into the community is extremely welcome.

Reform is delighted to host Preet Gill MP, Shadow Minister for Primary Care and Public Health to share her thoughts on Labour’s vision for primary care.

This private roundtable will be held in-person and will take place under the Chatham House rule.
