Gareth Davies MP, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury

Unleashing growth: the future of UK plc

Economic growth has rightly been identified as a top priority by the Prime Minister - one which is essential to driving up living standards and delivering the modern, high-functioning public services citizens expect. Securing this growth will require a concerted, cross-cutting effort by government, to remove barriers to investment and provide targeted support to our high potential sectors, including tech and the life sciences. However, growth cannot be driven "from the Floor of the House of Commons"; it must instead be seen on the "factory floors of Grantham and the shop floors of Stamford".

The Autumn statement recognised this and set out a number of measures to strengthen our foundation for growth, and boost productivity. Such actions are key in ensuring government is seen as a positive partner for business - evidenced by consistent, Iong-term action - and can crowd in the private investment that will underpin our future success.

Re:State is delighted to welcome Gareth Davies MP, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, to lead this private, partners-only roundtable to discuss how to ensure that the right incentives are in place for UK plc to prosper, wages to grow, and sustainable public services to flourish.

This is a private, partners-only roundtable and will take place under the Chatham House rule.
