Rt Hon David Gauke MP, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions

Smarter welfare

In recent years, the Department for Work and Pensions has taken significant steps towards digitising the delivery of welfare. Moving applications, forms and logs online has been a powerful tool for increasing access, ensuring the reliability of real time information, and improving the users’ experience.

The move to digital has also allowed HMRC and DWP to accumulate and share important data on its users and the accessibility of welfare delivery as a whole. The question now is how these Departments can use this data for smarter welfare. Re:State is delighted to host the Rt Hon David Gauke MP, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, to discuss the opportunities offered by Big Data to revolutionise and improve the tax and welfare systems.

The event will bring together a group of around 20 senior senior civil servants, private and public service leaders who are demonstrating best practice in implementing similar reforms, as well as representatives of other public services who can share useful experiences.  This event will take place under the Chatham House Rule.
