Joe Hill

I joined Re:State in January 2024 to lead the Reimagining Whitehall programme, and research on other areas of state capacity & capability. Before Re:State, I was a manager at Faculty, an AI company, where I worked on defence and security projects. Prior to that I was a civil servant for seven years, leading teams in both HM Treasury and the Home Office.

Having worked in and with government, I believe it can be radically different and better if we’re willing to make radical changes. My research interests include management and leadership in Whitehall, procurement, governance and technological innovation.

My favourite reformer is…

Franklin D. Roosevelt, for rebuilding the American state to deliver the New Deal and fight World War 2.
