London and the UK

Governing London

1 May 2013 – 12 August 2014

London is not only a world city, but also a capital city, and yet London’s role within the UK has until recently gone relatively unexamined.

The London and the UK project looked at all aspects of the capital’s relationship with the rest of the country. Our aim was to better understand the perception of London beyond its boundaries and to develop new ways of assessing its contribution to the UK.

We want to help the capital build stronger ties with the rest of the country, and contribute to the prosperity of our other cities.
